Seismic Module
A tri-axial accelerometer module for measuring seismic wave velocities in the ground during CPT.
The seismic module contains a tri-axial accelerometer integrated into the CPT cone, allowing in-situ measurement of ground seismic wave velocities (Vs, Vp). Its high resolution and wide frequency range let it precisely record even weak seismic signals.

- Seismic cone penetration testing (SCPT) has proven to be an extremely accurate and reliable method for determining in-situ compression (P) and shear (S) wave velocity profiles under low-strain conditions. These velocities are directly related to various soil elastic constants such as Poisson's ratio, shear modulus, bulk modulus and Young's modulus, and are used in both Static and Dynamic Soil Analysis to assess the response to earthquakes or dynamic loads generated by wind turbines or rotating equipment.
- Another important use of estimated shear wave velocities in geotechnical design is the liquefaction assessment of soils, since shear wave velocity is affected in the same way by many of the variables that influence liquefaction. The seismic module allows these wave velocity profiles to be obtained efficiently and reliably.
