An Edelman Coarse Sand-type auger for non-cohesive soils. Extended, winged blades are shaped to retain the sample.
The specific character of coarse sand and extremely dry sandy soils is that there is little or no cohesion at all. This auger's blades are therefore extended with added "wings," forming an almost enclosed auger body that prevents the sample from sliding out. This design suits loose soils such as coarse sand or very dry sandy material particularly well.
After use, augers should be air-dried and decontaminated with soap. Rust can develop naturally on these tools — see the product brochure for details.
