A specialized auger that drills through hard layers on a corkscrew principle, boring rather than cutting.
The spiral auger is used not to cut the soil, but to bore through hard layers on a corkscrew-like principle. The spiral auger has a negative tip, meaning the center of the auger point is ground and shaped backward.
This auger type is rarely used for profile research and soil mapping. Its use is mostly limited, alongside other auger types, to situations requiring passage through very hard layers such as ore, brick layers, chalk and lime profiles.
After use, augers should be left to air-dry and be decontaminated with soap. These augers may naturally develop rust; see the product brochure for more information.
